Beschreibung

The MIN Graduate Center (MINGZ) is excited to invite the new (and not-so-new) doctoral researchers to a Welcome Night. You will be able to get to know the MINGZ, meet your fellow doctoral candidates, and grab a beer. We will provide information on:

  • How to get started at Universität Hamburg;
  • How to optimize the journey towards your doctoral degree;
  • How to cope with stress, planning your career and more!

Erdmute Schmidt Jäger from the HRA will host the career workshop Your Plan, Your Path: Guidance for Doctoral Students

As an early-career researcher at the beginning of your PhD, you probably already have some questions about life after your doctorate. What comes next? How can I figure out what I really want? What can and should I do to start setting the course for my career? Who can support me in this process?

In this workshop, we give tips on how to explore career options early on, what first steps are possible, and what support is available to you. Interactive self-reflection exercises and discussions with other participants round off the workshop.

Annette Juchems-Brohl and Bettina Niebuhr from the department studies and teaching, UHH will host a session on stress management:

Being a young researcher means facing a variety of challenges, including mental health challenges. In this workshop we take a look at stressors in the life of young researchers and provide some insights on successful stress management. How does stress build up during your doctoral research? What can you do to stay healthy and confident? Find the answers to these and more of your stress-related questions in this workshop.
